Imagine that little red building - the Lopez Library - has been standing since the 1890s and has served as a schoolhouse, restaurant and fire station before opening its doors as the library. Season after season, year after year, it has welcomed and provided to all.
Steadfast, it is. But, after 130 years, a little tired, as well.
The goal of Project Little Red is to ensure our beloved library stands at the heart of the community for another 100+ years.
It's an ambitious, but necessary, five-year, $2 million capital improvement campaign.
Phase One will begin with the replacement of the roof and windows throughout.
The Library has applied for a state grant to cover some of the costs - but it requires a match of funds raised by the local community.
Our goal is to raise $10,000 during Give Lopez toward the community match for the state grant.
We are up for the challenge - will you join us?
